Don Etue came to western Washington nearly 17 years ago to pursue his career in chainsaw art.He has been an artist all his life, using a chainsaw since 1985. Don has traveled all over the United States demonstrating and competing in chainsaw carving contest and events. Throughout his chainsaw carving career he has competed in over 60 carving contests. He has held the title of WA. State Champion five times (1993, 94, 95, 96, 97), winning the most events those particular years. He was International champion (1996, 97), Westport WA.He was co-champion N.E. Regional Champion (Tupperlake New York 1996), an Echo Cup qualifier for 2007, and 2nd place at the National Sculpting Invitational 2007.  He has been featured in many publications such as National Wood Carvers Magazine “Chip Chats”, RV today, Grays Harbor Tourism booklet, Chainsaw Art and Craft Making and Marketing, Chainsaw Carving the Art and Craft, The Sculpture Reference Illustrated book under the word “Chainsaw”. Much of Etue’s work can be found in, restaurants, churches, motels, as high School mascots, the Gorge Amphitheater in George WA. (for Alaska Airlines). Some can also be found in Alaska at numerous fishing lodges. Thousands can be found at homes all over the U.S. and Canada.Don exclusively uses Western red cedar for its beauty and its ability to withstand decay. The detail that he puts in his sculpture is what makes him different from all other chainsaw carvers. His Wildlife is realistic; his marine life is flowing and elegant and his people look as if they could tell you a story, or walk a way. Don Etue is an artist and a respected business person, but most importantly he enjoys creating beautiful sculpture with his chainsaw for people to enjoy.
